Politecnico di Milano História The Politecnico di Milano was established in 1863 with the name of "Istituto Tecnico Superiore" under the leadership of Francesco Brioschi. The university was first located in the Collegio Elvetico in today's Via Senato. It was opened on November, 29th, 1863 and started out with 36 students. In 1927 the School moved to its new and current building in Piazza Leonardo da Vinci, officially opened on December, 22nd. The name of Regio Politecnico di Milano was taken in 1937. Since then, the Politecnico has never ceased to grow, and has played a significant role in the field of engineering and technology and contributed through its graduates, who then became professors, researchers and entrepreneurs, to making the history of scientific research in Italy and in the world. Today, the university, with its premises in Milano - Leonardo, Milano - Bovisa, Como, Cremona, Lecco, Mantova and Piacenza, offers its students some of the most advanced laboratories for scientific and technological research in the world. Curiosidade O Politecnico di Milano, tem actualmente 37.000 alunos, sendo considerada a mais importante de todas as instituições italianas de formação de engenheiros.
